About Us
Welcome to Wei Gardens
Wei Gardens is a vibrant destination in Black Creek, WI where plants, creativity, and community come together. We offer a carefully curated selection of plants—with a special focus on succulents—alongside unique gifts, home décor, handmade jewelry, books, cut flowers, arrangements, and artisan goods. Beyond our nursery and gift shop, we host hands-on classes, seasonal craft fairs, and provide a beautiful venue for gatherings and celebrations.
Meet Wei
Wei was "made in China", where after university she worked as a travel guide. It was through her work that she met her husband (affectionately known as her "panda"), and together they made the journey back to Wisconsin (panda is a life long Wisconsinite) on the very last day before COVID-19 stopped travel from China. Since January 2020, Wei has called the Fox Valley home, bringing her warmth, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit to the community.
After agreeing to move to Wisconsin, Wei had planned to go back to school, but COVID made this nearly impossible. Looking for a way to direct her passion, she tried this and that. It wasn't until October 2020 that she first bought two 2" pots containing succulents. Their adorable appearance and their carefree spirit that can survive anything captured her heart and imagination immediately. Soon more and more succulents filled her and Panda's house—first by the dozen, and soon by the thousand. They let her get through a tough time and gave her a lot of happiness. She called them her "green therapy."
In order to spread that happiness, she first started by attending farmers markets. This is where she learned she loved teaching people about plants and all their amazing abilities. After experiencing her first winter protecting her beloved plants in her garage and in her three season room, she quickly realized she would need something else. Too much time was lost worrying if her plants were getting enough quality light. She started looking for nurseries for sale. Eventually she found the former "Black Creek Gardens and Gift". After convincing Panda and negotiating with the previous owners, a deal was struck and Wei Gardens was started.
Having now owned Wei Gardens for a couple of years, Wei has experienced the ups and downs of running a small nursery. Her customers' appreciation and loyalty have been wonderful, while losing plants to rough weather or equipment failures has been heartbreaking. She completely devoted herself to this vision, to the point that burnout became clear. Her staff and friends have been there for her, and while some have come and some have gone, she thanks them all for helping her recognize this and keep Wei Gardens thriving through the challenge.
Starting from 2026, a new chapter begins in nurturing our garden-centric community; a sustainable chapter filled once again with the love Wei started with. True to her slogan, Wei Gardens will continue to grow as "a place for people."
Our Mission
Wei Gardens is dedicated to spreading the love of plants—especially succulents—and fostering a sense of connection and belonging right here in Black Creek. As part of building this community, we support local artisans who don't have a retail space of their own, giving them a platform to share their crafts with our neighbors.
Our goal is to be more than a shop. We're building a community gathering spot where neighbors can take a class, browse a craft fair, or simply enjoy the beauty of our greenhouse and gardens. Looking ahead, we envision Wei Gardens as a full-service event venue—a place where weddings, birthday parties, and all of life's celebrations, milestones, and moments of togetherness can unfold in a natural, welcoming setting.
Whether you're here to find the perfect succulent, discover a handmade treasure, learn a new skill, or celebrate with loved ones, Wei Gardens is your place to grow, connect, and belong.
